Launch Ceremony for the Winners of the Sub-Grant Scheme

Civil Society Against Corruption: From a Local Challenge to a

European Response. 29.01.2025

The Albanian Helsinki Committee (AHC) organized the official launch ceremony for the six civil society organizations that won the sub-grant scheme, part of the EU-funded project “Civil Society Against Corruption: From a Local Challenge to a European Response.” This event brought together institutional actors and international partners supporting transparency and the fight against corruption in Albania.

The welcoming remarks were delivered by Ms. Erida Skëndaj, Executive Director of AHC; Mr. Insidior Rexhepi, General Director of the Anti-Corruption Directorate; Ms. Cinzia Tarletti, Head of Operation 1 at the EU Delegation in Albania; Ms. Elida Jata, Project Manager at the ALTRI Center; and Mr. Dharmendra Kanani, Chief Spokesperson of Friends of Europe.

The six winning organizations — Together for Life, Academy of European Integration and Negotiations, Institute of Roma Culture in Albania, Center for Legal Initiatives, All Green Center, and Albanian Institute for International Studies — presented the goals and expected outcomes of their projects. The selected initiatives aim to introduce innovative approaches to preventing and combating corruption, particularly in sensitive sectors such as healthcare, education, property, public procurement, justice for victims of sexual violence, and the protection of marginalized groups such as the Roma community.

The organizations were selected through an open and competitive process among 34 applications, evaluated by expert panels from the Albanian Helsinki Committee, the ALTRI Center, and Friends of Europe. During the meeting, the importance of strengthening cooperation between civil society and specialized institutions in the fight against corruption was emphasized as a crucial step toward more transparent, accountable, and inclusive governance in Albania.
